Country guide
Canada
A transparent points system that is also a queue, with permanent residence as the destination rather than a work permit.
- Study applications
- Work abroad, with or without an offer
Canada publishes its criteria, publishes the cut off score for each round of invitations, and applies the same arithmetic to everybody. That transparency is the best thing about it.
It is also a queue. Being eligible is not the same as being invited, cut off scores move between rounds, and category based selection changes which profiles get drawn. A profile that would have been invited two years ago may sit in the pool today.
Immigration advice and representation for Canada are regulated. Skillvelop provides documentation support and application preparation, not regulated advice, and we will tell you when your case needs a licensed practitioner instead.

Already have a job offer?
We support work abroad for any country on this site, whether or not you already hold an offer. Where you have one, the work is the visa file. Where you do not, it is route selection, eligibility scoring and the search itself.
These are starting prices. Every package and every exclusion is on the pricing page, at the same figures quoted on a call.
Who is being hired
Occupations in demand in Canada
- Healthcare: nurses, physicians, allied health
- STEM: software, data, engineering
- Skilled trades: electricians, welders, plumbers
- Transport: truck and commercial drivers
- Agriculture and agri-food
- French language proficiency, as its own category
Read this before you plan around it
Being in a shortage occupation is not eligibility. It usually changes a salary threshold, a points score or a processing queue, and it never removes the need to qualify. These lists are also revised often, so treat this as where demand has been concentrated rather than a promise about today.

Routes
Ways into Canada, and what each one needs
Route 01
Express Entry, Federal Skilled Worker
Graduates with skilled work experience and strong English who want permanent residence.
Requirements
- Skilled work experience in an eligible occupation
- An approved language test result
- An educational credential assessment for qualifications from outside Canada
- Proof of settlement funds, unless exempt
Realistic timeline
Unpredictable. Profile preparation takes two to four months, then you wait for a round that reaches your score
Route 02
Provincial Nominee Programs
People whose occupation is in demand in a specific province, especially outside Ontario and British Columbia.
Requirements
- An occupation on the target province's own in demand list
- Often a connection to the province, such as a job offer or previous study
- Language and education requirements set by the province, not federally
Route 03
Study permit into post graduation work
People willing to study in Canada first, using the qualification and Canadian experience to build a stronger case.
Requirements
- Acceptance at a designated learning institution
- Proof of funds for tuition and living costs
- A language test result meeting the institution's requirement
- A credible study plan, because this is where refusals concentrate
The bigger picture
Costs that are not fees at all
| Proof of settlement fundsYour own money, not a fee, but it must be genuinely available and documented. The published table changes each year. | Published per family size, updated annually |
|---|---|
| Educational credential assessmentPaid to the designated organisation. Takes several weeks, so it is the first thing to start. | Roughly ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 equivalent |
| Language testIELTS General Training or CELPIP for most routes. Budget for the possibility of one retake. | Test centre fee, paid directly |
| Government processing and right of permanent residence feesPaid to IRCC at the application stage, per adult, with a separate fee per dependent child. | Published per applicant |
| Medical examination and police certificatesPanel physician fees plus police clearance from every country you have lived in for six months or more. | ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 total |
| Flights and initial settlementFlights, temporary accommodation, first month rent and deposit, and living costs while you look for work. | ₹150,000 upwards |
Refusals
Why applications get refused, and what helps
- 01
Reference letters that do not match the occupation classification
What helps
The letter has to describe duties in language that maps to the National Occupational Classification entry you claimed. A generic letter on company paper confirming employment is not enough. - 02
Funds that cannot be shown as genuinely available
What helps
Held in your own name, documented over the required period, and not borrowed. A gift needs a documented source and often a declaration. - 03
A study plan the officer does not believe
What helps
For study permits especially, be able to explain why this course, why Canada, and why now, in a way that follows from your actual background. - 04
An undeclared previous refusal from any country
What helps
Declare it. Every time, for every country. A refusal you explain is survivable. A refusal you concealed becomes a misrepresentation finding, which carries a multi year inadmissibility. - 05
Expired documents at the moment of submission
What helps
Medicals, police certificates and language results all have validity windows. Collect them in the right order so none of them expires while you wait for another.
Immigration rules change constantly, and a page like this is a starting point rather than an authority. Every figure here is approximate and every claim links to the government source that governs it. Before you commit money to any of it, check the current position, or ask us to check it against your profile.
