Profile building

If you are not eligible yet, fix that before you spend on an application

A lot of people spend a large fee on an application that was never going to succeed, when the same money and a year of deliberate work would have made them a strong candidate.

The reason this happens is that nobody selling applications makes money by telling you to wait.

This service is the version of that conversation where waiting is an acceptable answer.

The levers

What actually moves a score, ranked honestly

This is most of what the paid report tells you, published here for free. The paid version puts your numbers against it and gives you dates.
01

Language level

Effort 3 to 9 months

Effect Usually the largest single gain

In the Canadian points system language is the heaviest scoring factor, and moving one band moves the score more than most people expect. For Germany it is the difference between routes being open and closed. If you only do one thing, do this one.

02

Documented work experience

Effort Ongoing, starting today

Effect Large, and it expires if you leave it

Points come from experience you can evidence, not experience you had. Reference letters that match the occupation classification wording are far easier to get from an employer you still work for than one you left three years ago.

03

Credential assessment

Effort 6 to 12 weeks

Effect Sometimes decisive, sometimes zero

For Germany, whether your degree sits in Anabin as recognised changes which route you are on entirely. For Canada, the assessment result determines your education points. Either way this is the first thing to check, because everything downstream depends on the answer.

04

A job change into a shortage occupation

Effort 6 to 18 months

Effect Large, but only if it is a real change

A job title change without a change in duties will not survive scrutiny. If your actual work matches a shortage occupation, the documentation matters more than the title.

05

Age

Effort Not a lever

Effect Declines on its own

In points based systems age is scored and it moves against you every year. This is the honest reason that waiting is not always free, and it is why the plan has dates on it.

06

Certifications and short courses

Effort Weeks to months

Effect Usually small, sometimes zero

A great deal is sold to people in this position on the promise that it improves an immigration score. Most of it does not. We will tell you which of the ones you are considering actually count, and we take nothing from anyone who sells them.

Fit

Who this is for, and who it is not for

It costs both of us less if you find out here.

This is for you if

  • Scoring below the threshold for your target route and wanting to know by how much
  • Early in your career, with time to make deliberate choices about what to do next
  • Considering a certification, a language level or a job change and wanting to know if it counts
  • Planning to apply next year rather than this month

This is not for you if

  • Already eligible, in which case go straight to the relevant service
  • Needing to move within the next few months
  • Wanting someone else to do the work in the plan
  • Looking for a way to appear eligible rather than to become eligible

What you get

Every deliverable, numbered

This list is what goes on your scope document, made specific to your case. Nothing else is added to the price later.
  1. 01

Your profile scored against the real criteria

The Comprehensive Ranking System for Canada, the Opportunity Card points for Germany, or the published entry profile for your target universities.

  2. 02

The three changes that would move your score most

Ranked by effort against points gained, with the ones that are not worth doing named as such.

  3. 03

A 90 day plan with dated milestones

Specific enough to follow alongside a full time job, and specific enough that you can tell whether you did it.

  4. 04

Work experience documented as you go

Reference letters that match the occupation classification wording, collected while you still work there rather than three years later.

  5. 05

Certification and course advice, including what does not count

A lot of what gets sold to people in this position adds nothing to a score. We will tell you which.

  6. 06

A rescored profile at the end

Compared against where you started, so you can see what the year actually bought you.

Prices

Two packages, both published

The cheaper one is a report and a plan. The other one checks the work every fortnight for six months. If the report tells you the gap is too large to close, that is a useful answer and it costs the smaller number.

Limits

What we do not do

Written here rather than in a clause you find after paying.
  • Guarantee that the plan will make you eligible
  • Do the work in the plan for you
  • Sell you a certification, a course or a test and take a cut
  • Recommend anything that inflates a profile rather than improving it
  • Write your work experience letters or ask your employer for them

Before you start

What you need to have

If you are missing more than one of these, profile building is the cheaper first step and we will say so on the call.
  • A target route or country, even a provisional one
  • Honest information about your marks, your experience and your language level
  • Time each week to do the work in the plan
  • Patience for a timeline measured in months
