Country guide

Italy

Low public tuition scaled to family income, regional scholarships that cover a great deal, and strong design and engineering schools.

  • Study applications
  • Work visa, if you already hold an offer

Italy has an unusual arrangement: tuition at public universities is scaled to family income, assessed through a declaration called the ISEE. For many Indian families the assessed figure is low, which makes strong public universities considerably cheaper than the equivalent elsewhere.

On top of that, regional right to study scholarships can cover tuition, a maintenance grant and accommodation. They are competitive and the deadlines are early, which is the part people miss.

We cover Italy for study applications. We do not currently offer a work abroad service for Italy.

What it costs

Our fee, and everybody else's

Two different piles of money. The second one is almost always larger, and a quote that does not mention it is not cheaper, it is less complete.

Starting prices for the services we run for Italy. Every package has a published price and an exclusions list, and the scope is agreed in writing before you pay anything.

  • Study abroad

Shortlisting with the reasoning written next to every university, applications, statement review and the full document set.

    What is included
  • Visa and documentation

File preparation and two full review passes, with the weak points named in writing before you submit rather than after.

    From₹14,000

    What is included
  • Profile building

For people who are not eligible yet. A written plan for the twelve months that would make you eligible, and the work to get there.

    From₹9,000

Already have a job offer?
We support work abroad for any country on this site, whether or not you already hold an offer. Where you have one, the work is the visa file. Where you do not, it is route selection, eligibility scoring and the search itself.

These are starting prices. Every package and every exclusion is on the pricing page, at the same figures quoted on a call.

Who is being hired

Occupations in demand in Italy

The Decreto Flussi sets annual quotas by sector, and applications open in a narrow window that people routinely miss.
  • Nursing and care work
  • Mechanical and industrial technicians
  • Agriculture and seasonal work
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Logistics and transport

Read this before you plan around it
Being in a shortage occupation is not eligibility. It usually changes a salary threshold, a points score or a processing queue, and it never removes the need to qualify. These lists are also revised often, so treat this as where demand has been concentrated rather than a promise about today.

Routes

Ways into Italy, and what each one needs

Every route links to the government page that actually governs it. Rules and figures change, so check the source before you act.

The bigger picture

Costs that are not fees at all

Tuition, housing and the things that decide whether a plan is affordable in the second year as well as the first.
Costs of moving to Italy, with a note on each.
Public university tuitionThis is the thing that makes Italy cheap for many Indian applicants, and it is why preparing the income documentation properly matters more here than almost anywhere else.Scaled to assessed family income
Regional scholarshipCompetitive, with early deadlines set by the region rather than the university. Missing the deadline is the most common way people lose this. Can cover tuition, a grant and housing
Declaration of value or CIMEA statementRecognition of your Indian degree. Start it early, because it takes weeks and blocks the rest of the application.A published fee
Living costsMilan is expensive. Many excellent universities are in cities that are not.Varies widely by city
Flights and initial settlementHousing deposits and a residence permit application within eight days of arrival.₹100,000 upwards

Refusals

Why applications get refused, and what helps

Almost all of these are mechanical rather than substantive, which means almost all of them are preventable by somebody reading the file carefully before it is submitted.
  1. 01

Pre enrolment not completed correctly on Universitaly

    What helps
It is a separate step from applying to the university and it has its own deadline. Missing it stops the visa regardless of your offer.

  2. 02

    Degree recognition documentation missing

    What helps
Start the declaration of value or CIMEA statement as soon as you have transcripts, not once you have an offer.

  3. 03

    Accommodation or funds not evidenced

    What helps
Both are checked. A booking and documented funds held in your own name, or a properly evidenced sponsor.

Immigration rules change constantly, and a page like this is a starting point rather than an authority. Every figure here is approximate and every claim links to the government source that governs it. Before you commit money to any of it, check the current position, or ask us to check it against your profile.

Comparing this against somewhere else

The cheapest sticker price is very often not the cheapest total. Every country page carries the same two cost tabs, so they can be compared line for line.
