Country guide

Singapore

Two globally ranked universities, a points based work pass system, and the shortest cultural distance from India of any major hub.

  • Study applications
  • Work visa, if you already hold an offer

Singapore has two universities that rank among the best in the world in NUS and NTU, teaches entirely in English, and sits a short flight from India with a large Indian population. For many Indian professionals it is the easiest cultural transition of any destination on this site.

The tuition grant is the thing to understand. International students can receive a substantial subsidy in exchange for a bond committing them to work for a Singapore registered company for a set number of years after graduating. It is a genuinely good deal, but it is a binding contract and not everyone reads it that way.

Work passes are points assessed and the qualifying salary thresholds have risen repeatedly. Singapore is deliberately selective, and an Employment Pass is not a formality even for well qualified applicants.

We cover Singapore for study applications. We do not run a job search here, though we will prepare your work pass file if an employer has already made you an offer.

What it costs

Our fee, and everybody else's

Two different piles of money. The second one is almost always larger, and a quote that does not mention it is not cheaper, it is less complete.

Already have a job offer?
We support work abroad for any country on this site, whether or not you already hold an offer. Where you have one, the work is the visa file. Where you do not, it is route selection, eligibility scoring and the search itself.

These are starting prices. Every package and every exclusion is on the pricing page, at the same figures quoted on a call.

Who is being hired

Occupations in demand in Singapore

Demand is expressed through the points based COMPASS framework rather than a shortage list, and the Shortage Occupation List adds points for specific roles.
  • Software, AI and data engineering
  • Semiconductor and precision engineering
  • Financial services and risk
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Sustainability and green finance

Read this before you plan around it
Being in a shortage occupation is not eligibility. It usually changes a salary threshold, a points score or a processing queue, and it never removes the need to qualify. These lists are also revised often, so treat this as where demand has been concentrated rather than a promise about today.

Refusals

Why applications get refused, and what helps

Almost all of these are mechanical rather than substantive, which means almost all of them are preventable by somebody reading the file carefully before it is submitted.
  1. 01

Salary below the current Employment Pass threshold

    What helps
The qualifying salary rises with age and has been raised repeatedly. Check the current figure for your age band before negotiating an offer.

  2. 02

Signing the tuition grant bond without understanding it

    What helps
Not a refusal, but the most common regret. Model what the bond means for your plans before accepting the subsidy.

  3. 03

    Qualifications not verified

    What helps
Singapore verifies degrees through approved bodies. Budget time for it, and expect scrutiny of unfamiliar institutions.

Immigration rules change constantly, and a page like this is a starting point rather than an authority. Every figure here is approximate and every claim links to the government source that governs it. Before you commit money to any of it, check the current position, or ask us to check it against your profile.

Comparing this against somewhere else

The cheapest sticker price is very often not the cheapest total. Every country page carries the same two cost tabs, so they can be compared line for line.
