Country guide
Spain
Low public tuition, a growing English taught master's offer, and a job search visa that lets graduates stay on.
- Study applications
- Work visa, if you already hold an offer
Spain is cheaper than most of Europe for a master's degree and considerably cheaper than the English speaking world. Public universities charge regulated tuition, and the regions set their own rates, so the same subject can cost noticeably different amounts in Madrid and in Valencia.
The English taught offer has grown quickly, particularly in business, tourism management and some engineering fields, but it is still smaller than in the Netherlands or the Nordics. Outside the classroom, life runs in Spanish, and the graduates who do best here arrive with at least a working B1.
Graduates of a Spanish degree can apply to stay on to look for work or start a company, which turns a one year master's into a genuine route rather than a visit.
We cover Spain for study applications. We do not run a job search here, though we will prepare your work permit file if an employer has already made you an offer.

Already have a job offer?
We support work abroad for any country on this site, whether or not you already hold an offer. Where you have one, the work is the visa file. Where you do not, it is route selection, eligibility scoring and the search itself.
These are starting prices. Every package and every exclusion is on the pricing page, at the same figures quoted on a call.

- Agriculture, seasonally
Read this before you plan around it
Being in a shortage occupation is not eligibility. It usually changes a salary threshold, a points score or a processing queue, and it never removes the need to qualify. These lists are also revised often, so treat this as where demand has been concentrated rather than a promise about today.
Indicative, last reviewed 26 August 2026. The position that governs is on Spanish Ministry of Inclusion and Migration.

The bigger picture
Costs that are not fees at all
| Public university tuitionAmong the lowest in western Europe. Private universities and business schools charge several times more, so confirm which you are applying to. | Regulated, and set per region |
|---|---|
| Private health insuranceMust have no co-payments and no waiting period. Ordinary travel insurance is rejected, and this is a routine reason for refusal. | Mandatory, from an authorised insurer |
| Apostille and translationDegree, transcripts and police certificate need apostille and sworn Spanish translation. | ₹800 to ₹2,000 per document |
| TIE residence card after arrivalApplied for within 30 days of arriving. Appointments in Madrid and Barcelona can be slow. | A published fee, paid in Spain |
| Living costsMadrid and Barcelona are expensive by Spanish standards. Valencia, Granada and Salamanca are much cheaper and have strong universities. | Varies sharply by city |
Refusals
Why applications get refused, and what helps
- 01
Health insurance that does not meet the specification
What helps
The policy must have no co-payment and no exclusion period, from an insurer authorised to operate in Spain. This single item causes more Spanish refusals than anything else. - 02
Financial means below the published threshold
What helps
Meet the stated monthly figure for the full length of the course, and evidence the source properly if a sponsor is providing it. - 03
Documents not apostilled or not sworn translated
What helps
Spain is strict about legalisation. An ordinary translation is not accepted where a sworn one is required.
Immigration rules change constantly, and a page like this is a starting point rather than an authority. Every figure here is approximate and every claim links to the government source that governs it. Before you commit money to any of it, check the current position, or ask us to check it against your profile.
